Monster was created as The Monster Board in 1994 by Jeff Taylor, who was then president of Adion, Inc., a niche recruitment-advertising agency he founded in 1989. Adion specialized in designing and placing recruitment advertisements in traditional media for high tech clients in and around Boston. It was then that Taylor took a chance on the Internet and risked his ad agency to start The Monster Board. Feeling pressure from his clients to offer innovative solutions to their staffing problems, Taylor awoke one morning with a „€œmonster“€? idea. Having a little bit of knowledge about the Internet and a dream-induced brainstorm, Taylor began to sketch out this completely new platform for matching job seekers with employers; The Monster Board was born „€“ the 454th commercial website in the world. The site was developed initially with about 20 clients and about 200 job openings.

In April 1995, Jeff Taylor sold Adion and The Monster Board to TMP Worldwide (Nasdaq: TMPW) in New York City. The chairman, Andrew McKelvey, was interested in the ad agency but Taylor had to further sell the importance of The Monster Board. Taylor was told by employers that his idea would not work because they wouldn“€™t associate with a silly brand called „€œmonster.“€? It“€™s clear now that the Monster name is one of the reasons for the success of the business.

Witzig irgendwie solche Namensfindungen. Die Story kann stimmen, denn der Artikel stammt von Judy Hernandez, Director of Community at Monster.Com.
