man kann sich in Ruhe im Sitepoint Forum die Verkaufsdaten zum Blog Herald von Duncan anschauen. Dort wird auch die Seite per Antwortpostings versteigert, also nix eBay (letzte Angebot steht bei 18k). Interessant sind nicht nur die Verkaufsdaten als Vorlage, solltet Ihr irgendwann einmal vor dem Vergnügen (wie mans sieht) stehen, sondern auch die typischen Fragen. Besonders hinweisen möchte ich auf die mE wichtigste Frage: Was ist ein Blog ohne den Autor wert, der das Blog hochgepeppelt hat? Sprich: Wie stark spielt der Faktor „Beliebtheit und Reputation“ mit rein?
Isnt most of the return traffic coming to read Duncan Riley? Once he is gone, wont the numbers drop off dramatically? Or am I missing something? Is the plan to buy the site and re-invent a new „Personality“ before the viewers drop off….just curious are all the bidder proffesional bloggers/reporters/politition/ or what?

To me, blogs fall into 3 categories:
1. Personal: Personality is everything
2. Informational: Personality is helpful
3. News: Personality doesn’t matter
(simplifizierende, aber meistens zutreffende Annahme)
The Blog Herald falls somewhere between 2 and 3. Many people know Dunc is the author, but most people, if you ask them (and we did) come for blog news. Duncan sometimes puts his own spin on things, but largely he is simply reporting the industry.
Typically when buying / selling a blog, there is a 4-6 week „lull“ after the sale. Traffic doesn’t really fall off, but the previous growth stops as well. Realistically, this could easily happen. Chalk it up to the blog being sold and some changes the owner might due, chalk it up to people not linking quite as much because they want to ensure the new owner is a good guy, whatnot.
